Each year, the National Park Service (NPS) presents the Environmental Achievement (EA) Awards to acknowledge exceptional achievements and contributions in a broad range of environmental areas, including: environmental management systems; environmental stewardship; green purchasing; alternative fuel and fuel conservation in transportation; recycling; sustainable design/green building; and waste/pollution prevention.
The 19 nominations received for 2008 were reviewed by a committee of representatives from the NPS regional offices and the Washington Office (WASO).
